Beetlejuice Chair Upholstery

Updated: Nov 24, 2021

Beetlejuice would be proud. Okay, let me start from the beginning. This chair truly means so much to me. My Grandfather had this chair in his house ever since I was born. In fact at one point he was able to fit me, my brother and my two cousins on it all at once. Were we ever really that small?! Hard to imagine at my current 5'9". I remember sitting on it looking at the Christmas tree after we had decorated it. I also remember getting banished to it after being put on time out more times than not.

Regardless, of the reason I spent so many years growing up on this chair. After he passed away I took it to my new home in Nashville. However, tan corduroy does not really fall into the my chic witch aesthetic. I sought out a local upholsterer and gave them fabric to turn this chair into a piece that Tim Burton would surely have in his own home. Old Hickory Sewing and Upholstery did such an incredible job. It turned out way better than I could have imagined. Look how well the stripes line up! With the extra fabric they even made me a matching pillow!

Of course, I could have just bought a new striped chair, but now I have a piece of my Grandfather in my home. I'm so happy to have something that I love that is also attached to so many memories. Whether it is for sentimental purposes or for a home refresh, reach out to Old Hickory Sewing and Upholstery if you're in the area for quotes. Keep your eyes peeled for Nashville Interiors Magazine who just came to our WanderLust HQ to do a photoshoot of our place. This chair might even be in there!
